Keith Urban is a New Zealand born Australian country music singer and songwriter of international fame. Early Years
Keith whose full name reads Keith Lionel Urban was born in Whangarei, New Zealand on October 26, 1967. His parents, later, moved to Queensland in the search of greener pastures of life. Keith developed a taste for music at a very young age and began to take lesson in music when he was only seven. A quick learner, Keith mastered the nuances of music within a year and by the time he turned 9, he had already won a number of singing contents.
As he grew up, he began to make a name for himself in Australian country music arena with his regular appearances in singing shows telecast across the Australian television channels including the ABC and Channel 9. Keith would also perform regularly for Northern suburbs Country Music Club in Queensland.
Rise to Stardom
Urbans first solo album that was released in 1990 turned out to be a smash hit in both Australia and New Zealand. In 1992, Urban was roped in by Brooks and Dunn band as a lead guitarist. After having a successful stint with the band (during which he got an opportunity to work with all time greats like Alan Jackson), Keith launched his own band The Ranch in 1997. The band released its first album Mercury Blues that was received well by the audience. Later, Urban decided to perform solo.
In 2002, Urban released golden road, one of his solo albums. It was the success of the single (from the album) somebody like you that catapulted Urbans career to a new high. Urban has not looked back since.
Keith Urban has released a total of eight albums to date. Fifteen of his singles have gone on to figure in Billboards top country charts with ten of them reaching number one position.
