What Urban Homesteading Appears Like (part one)
You do not have to retreat to a cabin in the forest to grow your very own tomatoes and raise chickens, you can do it anywhere. People are increasing cucumbers on windowsills in a Los Angeles and harvesting honey on the rooftops of New York City. A new way of participating in the food/life cycle is blushing on the horizon. We are living in the dawn of the ecotarian. Individuals want to get back (do not make me say it) to their roots (gotcha!). A comparatively new motion, urban homesteading requires “simple residing” to the next degree (sorry Martha) via incorporating modest-scale agriculture, sustainable and permaculture gardening, and house food production and storage into each and every day life. By expanding their personal food and harnessing normal power, city dwellers are reconnecting with their land whilst planting seeds for the future for our cities. More than the previous 4 years Michelle has transformed her tiny cement jungle of a patio into an urban homestead full with compost piles, laundry lines, and edible make. Quite impressive for a girl who could not retain a spider plant alive a mere four years ago.
